Institute for Immunology, Tsinghua University (IITU) was jointly established by School of Medicine and School of Life Science, Tsinghua University in June 2014. The mission of the institute is to bring together outstanding scientists, trainees and staff, and strive to excel in biomedical research, to advance our fundamental understanding of health and disease, and to translate our knowledge into the betterment of life.

The RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (IMS) was established in Yokohama, Japan, in April 2013 by merging two former RIKEN institutes, the Research Center for Allergy and Immunology (RCAI) and the Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM).

Their widely recognized annual international summer program RISP, the RIKEN IMS Summer Program (formerly known as the RCAI International Summer Program), was first held in 2006.

This program aims to provide young scientists with the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge immunology, medical biology and genomic medicine research. The Summer Program Lecture Course was developed to present both basic concepts and state-of-the-art research to promote better understanding of these fields. The agenda typically consists of lectures by internationally distinguished scientists in these fields, and oral and poster presentations by each of the participants.
